Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is a program developed in 1979 by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Rooted in mindfulness meditation, body awareness, and yoga.  MBSR was designed to help individuals manage stress, pain, and illness through nonjudgmental present-moment awareness. Extensive empirical research has demonstrated MBSR’s effectiveness in reducing symptoms of anxiety, depression, and chronic pain, making it a valuable tool in counseling to enhance emotional regulation and overall well-being.
