Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

Based on the pioneering work of Dr. Sue Johnson, is widely regarded as the gold standard in couples therapy. Grounded in attachment science, EFT helps individuals, couples, and families navigate emotional and relational distress by addressing the deeper needs and longings beneath conflict and disconnection.

Rather than focusing solely on surface-level issues, EFT guides people to express their emotions in safe, meaningful ways—creating stronger bonds, fostering emotional security, and promoting lasting change. At the Richmont Trauma Center, our clinicians are trained in EFT to support clients in building healthier, more connected relationships—whether that’s with a partner, family member, or within oneself.
