Our Mission
1. We provide skilled trauma-informed counseling.
Everyone is trying to do two basic things in life – manage our pain and keep from getting hurt again. This is the heart beat of what it means to be trauma informed. Being trauma informed means understanding and applying training, skill and compassion to the reality that when we’ve been hurt in the past, it shows up in our present. While we at RTC are an advanced counseling center and work with a wide variety of clients all along the spectrum, all staff have and are continually seeking further training to be truly trauma informed. We help people heal from the difficult things that happen in life, and then show up in how we experience our inner world, and our relationship with others.
2. We train and launch the next generation of trauma-informed counselors.
A distinctive of RTC is that we are an upstream practice, seeking to grow and influence the field of counseling and trauma work – not just work within our office walls. One way we do this is through the identifying of key future leaders and clinicians in our field, offering extensive training, mentoring and experience, and then helping them find their place of service so that they can do the same for others. Our intern program is a key part of the work at RTC. It not only allows us to expand great trauma informed care to our community and world, but allows us to offer high quality and affordable services to those who otherwise might not be able to get access to quality mental and relational health services.
3. We partner with front line agencies, providing support and resources.
At RTC, we offer training, education, on the ground support for those groups and their staff who are doing great work in trauma-impacted environments. These include schools, ministries, international NGO’s, social services, etc. We want to the world to be better off because of our involvement in it, and this is one of the primary ways use our specialized skills to do this.

Our Values
1. We keep our calling and the “why” of our work front and center.
RTC clinicians could work many other places if being a counselor was just a way to make money. For our staff, we are here because of something deeper and more intrinsic. For us, there is an element of calling to the helping profession, a desire to be a part of something bigger than ourselves, and a passion help others when they really need an attuned, trained, compassionate professional who knows how to come alongside skillfully and help deeply. We never want to lose sight of the fact that we work with people in challenging circumstances, and this is an important work.
Ps. 34:18, 2 Cor. 1:3-4
2. We strive to be increasingly skilled at our craft.
We take the responsibility of working with people’s inner world very seriously. Therefore we continually invest in training and mentoring to be at the leading edge of the counseling, mental health, and trauma-informed therapy field. Pr. 22:29, Col 3:23-24
3. We seek to embody what we offer.
Before someone can be a lifeguard, they first need to know how to swim for themselves. In the mental health field, the principle is the same. At RTC, we are real people, with real life experiences, and are on our own path to emotional, spiritual and relational health and depth. We will not attempt to offer others empty platitudes or cheap advice. Because we have walked roads similar to our clients, we strive to offer highly skilled, compassionate trauma-informed therapeutic experiences and companionship to those in important seasons of their lives, from those who understand healing and recovery from the inside out. Pr. 3:5-6, Phil 3:16
About Richmont Trauma Center
Why Our Clinicians Choose to Work With Us
At Richmont Trauma Center, our clinicians are more than therapists — they are deeply compassionate, highly trained professionals who are committed to helping people grow, heal, and build lives filled with joy and healthy connection with othersl. They’ve chosen to join RTC in its mission because they believe counseling is more than a profession but also a calling – that people matter, that every story deserves to be heard, and that change is possible.
Most people seeking therapy carry the weight of past trauma or significant stress. Our clinicians understand this, and they’ve dedicated their lives to walking alongside clients on their path to healing. They choose to work here because RTC is where personal purpose and professional excellence come together. The Richmont Trauma Center is more than a workplace — it’s a mission. We strive to be at the forefront of trauma informed care.

How and Why We Partner with Different Agencies in the City
Richmont Trauma Center is more than a counseling center — we are a hub for trauma-informed care in our city. Our mission is to be part of real solutions, not just for individuals, but for the systems and organizations that serve them.
That’s why we actively partner with agencies on the front lines — offering support for their teams through secondary trauma care, providing trauma education and training, and sharing resources to strengthen their impact. We believe that when we support those who help others, the entire community benefits.
