Specializations

I am an EMDR certified therapist and have successfully used EMDR with clients to help to reduce the emotional charge associated with painful events. EMDR also is used to help clients strengthen positive, more adaptive, beliefs about themselves.

I believe reaching out for help is a sign of courage and strength.  With gentleness and patience, I seek to create a safe place for people to tell their stories.  I work with my clients to help them better understand themselves and to see new ways of looking at issues.  I consider it an honor to work with people through the rough patches of life.  If you’re on the fence about whether to start counseling, I encourage you to reach out and give it a try.

Licensed Professional Counselor

As a licensed professional counselor since 1994, I specialize in helping clients manage anxiety, cope with grief and loss, and heal from trauma. I see counseling as a collaborative effort where together we explore your experience as it is and as it could be. My counseling style is one of being curious and helping to make sense of things. The goal is that through this process you will gain self-awareness and self-acceptance, which in turn leads to improved relationships with yourself and others.

Education and Training

My training includes a M.S. and an Ed.S. in Community Counseling from Georgia State University.  I also studied the Integration of Psychology and Theology, earning a Diploma in Christian Counseling at the Psychological Studies Institute (now Richmont Graduate University). I enjoy exploring spiritual issues with clients who are interested in doing so.
