Counseling Intern
Beginning counseling can feel unfamiliar, vulnerable, or even overwhelming. Many people come to therapy carrying things they have tried to manage alone for a long time. You may not know exactly where to start, what to say, or how to make sense of what you are feeling. My hope is to offer a grounded, compassionate space where you do not have to perform, have everything figured out, or find the perfect words before you begin.
I work with clients who are navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, shame, addiction, identity development, career concerns, life transitions, men’s issues, relationship and family concerns, neurodivergence, including autism and ADHD, and experiences related to foster care and adoption.
My approach is shaped by psychodynamic thinking, attachment, family systems, trauma-informed care, and mindfulness, with close attention to each client’s story, including the relationships, experiences, losses, patterns, and ways of coping that have shaped their life. I believe healing often begins when people are given space to be honest about what they are carrying and begin making sense of their story with care, curiosity, and support.
For clients who want to include faith, spirituality, spiritual trauma, or deconstruction in counseling, those parts of the story are welcome. For clients who do not wish to include spirituality, that is completely respected. The work will remain centered on what feels most important, meaningful, and helpful to each client.
Education and Training
I am currently completing my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Richmont Graduate University and pursuing a certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy.
About Senate
Before entering the counseling field, my work in youth ministry, funeral service, and education shaped my respect for grief, family systems, life transitions, and the complexity of human experience.
