Clinical Mental Health Counselor

I believe that our heartaches – whether emotional, physical, relational, or spiritual—can be the very place where healing begins. I’m a trauma-informed therapist working with individuals, couples, and families to navigate life’s challenges with safety, compassion, and hope. Clients describe me as warm, grounded, and honest, with a gentle yet direct style. In the therapy room, as in life, I find authenticity, collaboration, and humor essential. Together we will work to identify meaningful patterns, deepen self-awareness, and increase self-acceptance; all important aspects of building healthier, more connected relationships.

Education and Training

I hold an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Richmont Graduate University with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy. I’m a licensed APC in Georgia, currently pursuing double licensure as an APC and AMFT. I also have a designation as a National Certified Counselor (NCC). Grounded in family systems theory, I draw from attachment-based approaches. I have advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy and Gottman Couples Therapy—both evidence-based approaches to couples counseling. My additional professional training includes narrative therapy, somatic therapy, biblical counseling, and trauma-informed care. I’m also a certified Prepare/Enrich premarital facilitator.

About Emily

Before beginning my counseling career, I spent years working in ministry, serving in roles as a teacher, supervisor, communicator, counselor, and trainer. What resonated with me most, though, were the moments spent listening to people’s stories. I find the shared space of vulnerability—where pain and beauty coexist—to be one of life’s greatest gifts.

Outside of work, you’ll find me traveling with friends and family, reading a good book, or shuffling my kids around town.

Therapy is personal and I know finding a therapist that fits can be a challenge. This is why I offer a free phone call consultation to answer any questions and help provide guidance.
