Emily Larsgaard
M.A., APC, NCC
Clinical Mental Health Counselor
Specializations
I work predominantly from a trauma-informed psychodynamic orientation, drawing from Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Narrative Therapy. What this means for you is a therapy space that is attuned and compassionate, with an understanding of how trauma and attachment experiences shape the nervous system, emotions, and relationships. We will move at a pace that supports safety, connection, and meaningful relational healing rather than just symptom reduction. My goal is for you to leave therapy with a deep, compassionate view of yourself that leaves you feeling less stuck and more empowered to connect to your life and your relationships in the way you desire.

“What you avoid, pursues you. What you face, transforms you.” – David Kessler
Welcome! I am so glad you are here. Reaching out to find a therapist is a brave step towards deep transformation. Transformation is work but it is also freedom and together, with empathy, acceptance and a little bit of humor, we will work towards uncovering freedom and finding deeper connection to the life and relationships you want.
I work with couples on betrayal trauma, infidelity, and sexual struggles, as well as couples looking for general relationship repair, help navigating marriage transitions and those looking to deepen connection and communication. I work with adults looking to process past or recent trauma, increase emotional capacity and self-awareness, and improve their relationships. My work also focuses on adults in the helping fields looking to process vocation and faith.
Education and Training
I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Richmont Graduate University.
I am an Associate Professional Counselor (APC) licensed in Georgia. I am also in process for Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) in Georgia. I am a National Certified Counselor (NCC).
My clinical training includes extensive work in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Gottman Couples Therapy—both evidence-based approaches to couples counseling.
My additional professional training includes narrative therapy, somatic therapy, biblical counseling, and trauma-informed care. I’m also a certified Prepare/Enrich premarital facilitator.
Alongside my clinical training, I bring over 15 years of ministry experience working with individuals and couples through seasons of brokenness, transition, growth, and restoration.
About Emily
Before beginning my counseling career, I spent years working in ministry, serving in roles as a teacher, supervisor, communicator, counselor, and trainer. What resonated with me most, though, were the moments spent listening to people’s stories. I find the shared space of vulnerability—where pain and beauty coexist—to be one of life’s greatest gifts.
Outside of work, you’ll find me traveling with friends and family, reading a good book, or shuffling my kids around town.
Therapy is personal and I know finding a therapist that fits can be a challenge. This is why I offer a free phone call consultation to answer any questions and help provide guidance.
