We provide better experiences to prepare interns for professional life

Richmont Trauma Center offers internship opportunities for students enrolled in a Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree program. We would be a great fit for those obtaining a certificate in Trauma Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Child and Adolescent Counseling .

What is the goal of Richmont’s Trauma Center Internship Program?

The goal of Richmont’s Trauma Center Internship Program is to educate in the best trauma informed practices to implement with the clients they will serve during internship and to be well-trained professionals post grad. Every student accepted will be given  the opportunity to work with a diverse client population at Richmont Trauma Center and/or various partner locations.

Student interns are expected to work under the direct supervision of Dr. DeVon Mills and Deanna Davis, LPC, LMFT.  Interns will also work under the direction of our Executive Director, Kaleigh Newby, MA.

What Are The Intern’s Responsibilities

Interns will be required to do an average of 20 hours onsite at the Trauma Center and/or at our partner sites. This does not include time for supervision, notes, and scheduling responsibilities. Student intern will provide counseling services to individuals, couples, and families at RTC and our partners (see below). Student will create treatment plans, fill out all clinical documentation in a timely manner, and be responsible for billing their clients. Student intern will be required to attend weekly supervision and bi-weekly staff meetings. Student interns may have the opportunity to serve at one or more of our various partner sites that include:  Blueprint 58, Walton Communities, Restoration Atlanta, Eagle Overlook, Crossroads Community Ministries, and the Boyce L. Ansley School.

These partner sites are looking for an intern specific to them: Eagle Overlook, Crossroads Community Ministries, and Boyce L Ansley School & Restoration Atlanta. Interns who are placed at these sites will be there for at least 2 days per week and will likely not see clients at RTC (this is dependent on office availability as these sites are able to provide all the required hours for interns).
